Trailmen at the Rosary Bowl

A Trailman mans the information table, sharing with attendees of the Rosary Bowl how Trail Life is a great program for young Catholic men.  Unfortunately, most parishes do not have any programs directed towards young men.

On Saturday, Trailmen and their families participated in the 2018 Rosary Bowl.  The Rosary Bowl is a gathering of Catholics united in a desire to strengthen their Catholic Faith, encourage devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and promote daily family prayer of the rosary. The rosary is an important part of every OR-1531 Trailman’s spiritual life, and the Troop prays the rosary on our campouts and hikes.  However, this event was special in many respects.

The Trailmen were provided special seating so they could sit at a Troop (although several were serving Mass) for a talk by Fr. Donald Calloway about his conversion experience and how Mary led him to Jesus.  The boys were floored!  Here is a video of his conversion story.

Trailmen stretch their legs after Fr. Calloway’s talk.

After Fr. Calloway’s talk everyone prepared for the celebration of the Mass by Archbishop Sample.  The gospel lent itself to the seriousness of our times.

Jesus said to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.’ Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me.
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

Archbishop Sample reminded us all that spiritual warfare is real.  Christ has already won, but Satan driven by hate, seeks to drag souls with him.  Satan hates God’s creation (and the World [and Boy Scouts] accept Transgenderism).   Satan hates the trinity (and the world attacks the sacrament of matrimony).  Archbishop Sample implored all families to pray the rosary every day, calling upon the powerful intercession of Mary.
